At mySteelYard.com, we take your privacy very seriously. When shopping with us online, you can feel confident knowing that any information that you share with us is safe and secure. Below we will talk about what sort of information we collect about you, what we do with that information, and how we prevent unauthorized access to that information.
What We Collect and What We Use it For
We collect information from our customers to process orders and better serve you with pertinent information, such as order confirmations and order status updates. Information collected includes your name, shipping address, billing address, telephone numbers, e-mail address, and payment information such as your credit card number. We also require you to create an account with a password of your choice for your future access to your account information. Your contact information may be used for the delivery of some special promotional materials. We will not sell, share, or rent this information to any outside parties, except as outlined in this policy.
How Your Personal Information is Kept Safe
Any sensitive personal information that you enter into our online forms is encrypted and protected with SSL encryption before it is transmitted to our secure servers. The data centers that we rely on for hosting our servers are monitored 24 hours a day and 7 days a week by motion-sensitive surveillance cameras and highly trained security staff. The data centers also utilize access controls at every entrance to prevent unauthorized guests from entering the buildings. Any time we transfer personal information to other servers, to employee workstations, or to third parties, it is done only through encrypted channels. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information.
What Payment Information is Stored
While going through our checkout process, you will be required to select a payment method. Currently we only accept credit cards for payment.
Credit Cards
When you use a credit card as your payment method, you are asked to supply us with the name on the card, the card number, the expiration date on the card, and the security code on the card. All of this information is sent directly to our credit card gateway who sends us back an approve/decline command, a unique transaction identification number, and a token associated with your payment method. Aside from the accept/decline command, the unique transaction identification number, and the token, we do not store any of this information in our database. However, our credit card gateway does store your card information in their PCI compliant system. See the next section labeled "What Information is Shared with Others" for more information.
What Information is Shared with Others?
Throughout the process of fulfilling your order, we must share some of your information with other organizations. There are up to two other companies that we share some of your information with.
Our Credit Card Gateway
When you use a credit card as your payment method, we are required to send quite a bit of information about you to our credit card gateway. This information is used to verify your identity in hopes that it will prevent unauthorized use of credit cards. This information includes your name, address, credit card number, expiration of your credit card, and the security code on your credit card. Once successfully charged, your security code is removed from their records.

If we choose to have your order shipped via UPS, then we share your name, address, phone number, email address, and order number with UPS.
Other Information Sharing
We will also share your personal information with other parties if required to do so by law or by a court order.
